The eighteenth century was a golden century for Boscotrecase despite the constant volcanic activity of Vesuvius. The population exceeded 10,000 inhabitants, agriculture, industries and the economy developed. After agriculture, the major source of income was handicrafts. From the Vesuvian stone were obtained the slabs that paved the streets of the town and those of the most important cities of the Kingdom of Naples, window sills, thresholds, portals and sculptures were carved that adorned public land and aristocratic villas.
